The Physicians Free Clinic (PFC), an affiliate organization of the Columbus Medical Association, is the largest provider of free episodic and specialty health care in Franklin County. Since opening its doors to the public in 1993, PFC has served more than 30,000 patients.
PFC is not designed to provide ongoing primary health care, but rather to provide one-time care. PFC staff and volunteers work to establish a medical home for the patients at one of the Columbus Neighborhood Health Clinics, Mount Carmel Health, Grant Family Practice, Riverside Community Medicine and other locations around the community.
The volunteer physicians who provide services to PFC patients are members of the Columbus Medical Association. At PFC, there is a unique opportunity to mentor students from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy and School of Allied Medical Professionals Division of Physical Therapy and the Division of Occupational Therapy. Columbus Medical Association Alliance members volunteer weekly along with a number of volunteers from the community at large. Many physicians also volunteer to see referral patients in their private practices when patients need further testing or treatments not available at PFC.
PFC is a member of the Ohio Association of Free Clinics. Click here for more information on the Ohio Association of Free Clinics.
