Application Process: The Foundation utilizes a two-step application process

Step I: Submitting the Pre-Proposal Summary

All prospective CMAF applicants must submit a two-page summary of the proposed project detailing its purpose and strategies used to achieve the project's anticipated outcomes. This pre-proposal summary must include a timeline detailing what is to be achieved over the life of the project. To help expedite Step I of the application process, applicants are encouraged to use the online form.

Summaries that meet CMAF expectations will be invited to submit a formal application. At that time further guidance will be provided. In addition, the CMAF staff is available throughout the application process to answer questions and provide other needed technical assistance. Technical assistance may also be available to those organizations not invited to submit proposals.

By requiring grantees to submit the pre-proposal summary, the CMAF increases its ability to identify opportunities to link programs for collaboration. Providing technical assistance early in the process also increases the likelihood of fundable projects.

The CMAF encourages all prospective applicants to attend the pre-proposal workshop where our grantmaking process and priorities are explained further. The workshops allow applicants to get to know the CMAF staff and meet other prospective applicants.

Step II: The Grant Application:

An application packet is provided only to those organizations participating in the pre-proposal submission process and receiving a formal invitation to submit a grant application.
